Chill Out
СТИЛЬ МУЗЫКИ - Dub
Это направление получило свое название благодаря "дублированию" песен реггей их инструментальными, ориентированными на ритм версиями на оборотной стороне синглов-сорокопяток, и развилось в собственный полноценный стиль, открывающим простор для звукорежиссерских экспериментов. Обычай перезаписывать песни реггей без вокала начался в 1967 году, когда диск-жокеи обнаружили, что в танцклубах и на вечеринках люди сами с удовольствием поют эти песни. Где-то к 1969 году некоторые диск-жокеи начали говорить под эти инструментальные версии, часто изменяя уже знакомый текст песни.
Наиболее заметным из "ранних" ди-джеев был U-Roy, получивший известность благодаря тому, что вел импровизированные диалоги с певцами на записях. Аудиосистема, на которой работал U-Roy, принадлежала звукооператору King Tubby. Последний микшировал все инструментальные трэки, под которые U-Roy говорил. В конце концов, Tubby начал экспериментировать, делая ремиксы этих инструментальных трэков, увеличивая громкость ритм-секции, выбрасывая все или почти все вокальные партии, если они были, и добавляя новых эффектов, таких как реверберацию и эхо. Многие поклонники реггей восприняли это как освобождение музыки от всего лишнего, чтобы добраться до ее естественной сути. 45-синглы с инструментальными версиями на стороне В получили всеобщее распространение, и ремиксы King Tubby стали чуть ли не важнее самих оригиналов. С 1973 года стали появляться альбомы, полностью состоявшие из "Dubов", с заметными влияниями миксов Tubby, сделанных им для продюсеров Bunny Lee и Augustus Pablo. Из других ранних продюсеров стоит назвать минималиста Keith Hudson и Lee "Scratch" Perry с его колоритным, утонченным стилем. К 1976 году Dub по популярности на Ямайке уступал только коренному растафарианскому реггей, а также получил распространение в Великобритании (во многом благодаря лейблу Island), где такие коренные исполнители реггей, как Burning Spear и Black Uhuru не менее успешно освоили и Dub. В 80-е Dub в Великобритании продолжал быть актуальным направлением, благодаря The Mad Professor и такому экспериментатору, как Adrian Sherwood, но в дальнейшем, несмотря на появление новых талантливых исполнителей, таких как Scientist, Prince Jammy и Mikey Dread, мода на ямайскую музыку сдвинулась в сторону словесных импровизаций ди-джеев, с популярностью Dancehall и Ragga.
Неторопливая музыка Dub возымела влияние не только в контексте рэггей, начиная с альбома Public Image Ltd. "Metal Box/Second Edition" 1979 года и далее. СТИЛЬ МУЗЫКИ - Ambient
Ambient как материя возник буквально ниоткуда. У него нет особой даты возникновения, так же как и нет точного определения Ambient - музыки. Однако многие музыковеды сходятся на мнении что неоценимую роль на становление Ambientной музыки как стиля, сыграли в начале 70-х годов, всем известные Tangerine Dream и Brian Eno (его, в принципе, многие считают "отцом" Ambientа после известной отлежки в больнице, когда он понял, что звуки природы можно использовать в музыке). Также на популярность Ambient сильно повлияли так называемые environmental recordings (теперешние "звуки природы" для медитации и релаксации) и саундтреки к фильмам. Все что мы имеем теперь для понятия Ambient - бесформенная музыка, бесформенное ее определение, бесформенная история, прошлое и бесформенное будущее.
Эта материя присутствует почти в каждой современной электронной записи и сильно укоренился практически во всех современных стилях. Все, что мы называем атмосферной, психоделичной музыкой - все так или иначе сильно привязано к Ambientу. Элементы этой культуры присутствуют даже в таких резких стилях, как Industrial или, допустим, Hard Trance.
Однако, в чистом виде Ambient присутствует в музыке очень редко, и музыканты малоизвестны - вряд ли кто-либо знает таких, как Lull, Panasonic, ранний Delerium, Steve Roach, Robert Rich, Pete Namlook, Vond и иже с ними. Самое большое заблуждение в данном случае - брать за точку отсчета музыку таких проектов, как Enigma, Pink Floyd, то есть музыку, в основе которой лежит другая музыкальная культура.
С полной уверенностью можно сказать, классическому, чистому Ambientу присущи:
1. Наличие очень медленного, неявного ритма, или полное отсутствие последнего.
2. Использование звуков природы, или "псевдоприроды", то есть модели окружающей слушателя среды, так или иначе напоминающей о природе.
3. Отсутствие мелодии как таковой, или ее непостоянность и постоянная "текучесть".
4. Упор на басовые звуки и полное отсутствие резких "движений" и звуков.
5. Длинная продолжительность композиции . от 10 минут и выше. Встречаются перлы и на 45, и 90 минут.
6. Отсутствие вокала, хотя часто используются речевые сэмплы и разного рода "повествования".
Следует заметить, что электронному Ambientу вообще чуждо вообще что-либо земное - музыка на 100% синтезированная, причем без цели синтеза живого звучания. Эта музыка самая тяжелая для восприятия и самая "мертвая" из всего Ambient'a. Вообще, чем "мертвее, синтетичнее и безжизненнее" музыка, тем сильнее она связана с Ambient'ом. Встречаются такие понятия, как например, "суицидный Ambient" (проект Vond, например) - который ставит эксперименты над человеческой психикой, навязывает свою идею. А вообще-то такая музыка зачастую ненавязчива - как обычное созерцание спокойной природы. Главное - она всегда рисует некую картину, пусть даже и абстрактную или неяркую - будь то картина космоса, земли, другой планеты, другого времени. Очень важен тот факт, что слушать Ambient - занятие сугубо личное. Человек должен слушать и осознавать музыку наедине со своим источником звука. И главное - чтобы создать и воспринять атмосферу музыки, нужно быть к этому готовым на 100%, иначе ничего, кроме раздражения, эта музыка вызвать не сможет. Хотя это зависит от психики слушателя и от его фантазии, потому как Ambient по сути призван вызывать у слушателя почти визуальные ассоциации.
И, наконец, следует сказать, что "бесформенная музыка" - известный прием в дополнение чего-то визуального - будь то какая-то выставка, инсталляция, перфоманс, спектакль, кино. Причем идеологической несущей в разных случаях бывает как музыка, так и визуальная материя, а лучше, когда они выступают на равных правах.
Ambient, в переводе с английского - окружающее, обволакивающее. В музыку этот термин ввел Brian Eno. История гласит следующее - Eno попал в больницу, где провел достаточно длительное время прикованным к постели, и в какой-то из моментов он обнаружил, что в результате то ли усталости, то ли ослабленности из-за болезнм, что его внимание было какое-то рассеяное. Совершенно неожиданно он осознал, что воспринимает шумы за окном его палаты как какую-то музыку - отголоски звуков города сплелись в подобие мелодической структуры. Он стал с этим эксперементировать - прислушивался, смешивал в воображении еще с чем-то. После выписки из больницы, он вернулся к работе,и стал эксперементировать с магнитофоном. Он выставлял микрофон во двор, носил его с собой и записывал разнообразные звуки окружающей среды, но не дождь, не гром и т.п., это уже делалось, а именно какие-то отголоски протекающей жизни. Все это он обрабатывал, микшировал и сводил. Полученные саундскейпы вылились в конце концов в серию работ под названием Ambient. Так в 70-х годах, в музыке появился термин Ambient. Безусловно стоит различать классический и электронный Ambient. По-крайней мере то что создал Brain Eno справедливо считать классическим Ambientом. В силу того что данный текст посвящен электронной музыке, то стоит больше уделить внимания именно электронному Ambientу. Который как это ни странно, почти совсем не похож на то что придумал Brian Eno.
Если прародитель использовал шумы из окружающей его жизни и не много звуков акустических инструментов, то современный Ambient это слошное использование электроники. Если вы слышите медленную, спокойную и обволакивающую электронную музыку при полном отсутствии ритма, то с очень большой вероятностью ее можно отнести к Ambient музыке. Тягущие электронные пассажи могут вырисовывать мелодию. Шумовые саундскейпы могут дополнять общую картину для создания специальной музыкальной атмосферы. Отдаленные бульканья, обрывки фраз, ревеберации, все это очень часто присутсвует в Ambient музыке.
Из тех кто создает и развивает эту музыку в наши дни, особенно стоит отметить лейбл Fax Records, во главе которого стоит Pete Namlook (Pete Kuhlmann). Этот лейбл собрал в свои ряды не малое количество талантливых музыкантов, занимающихся на самом деле самой разной музыкой. Pete Namlook успел практически со всеми ними сделать совместные альбомы (Terre Thaemlitz, Geir Gennsen, Johan Sharp, Tetsu Inoue, Oliver Lieb, Richie Hawtin, Bill Laswell, Klaus Schulze, Steve Stoll, etc), помимо своих сольных, а так же небольшого количества сольных альбомов своих коллег по лейблу (Redeye, Tetsu Inoue, Daniel Pemberton, David Moufang, Robert Musso, Oscar Sala). Количество дисков выпущенных лейблом подбирается к 200, и надо заметить что все они в той или иной мере заслуживают внимания.

Ambient - использует электронную реверберацию и пространственную технологию звука, здесь важную роль играет сама «текстура» звучания, а не написание текстов и музыки. Музыка меняется медленно, имеет повторяющуюся природу, поэтому для неискушенного слушателя может показаться одинаковой. Хотя содержание и тембр композиций Ambient-исполнителей имеет большие различия между собой. Стиль Ambient стал популярной, культовой музыкой в начале 90-х голов, благодаря Ambient-Techno музыкантам The ORB и Aphex Twin. Ambient буквально значит - окружение, обволакивание, погружение. Существует легенда о возникновении этого стиля, согласно которой Ambient был придуман одним из величайших саунд-продюсеров конца XX века - Брайаном Ино (Brian Eno). Попав в больницу и пролежав прикованным к постели долгое время, Ино стал прислушиваться к звукам, доносящимся из окна евро палаты, искать в них их внутреннюю мелодику. Затем он начал записывать шумы окружающей среды и составлять из них целые треки. Потом он выпустил все это в нескольких дисках под общим названием Ambient. Разумеется, сейчас нужно отличать Ambient «оригинальный» и электронный. Электронный Ambient - это мягкая, тягучая музыка, в которой нет ярко выраженного бита. Это спокойная музыка, в которой в качестве фона используются шумовые лупы, а главная мелодия играет ненавязчиво и как правило бывает очень длинной. В Ambient часто используются обрывки фраз, кусочки звука из старых фильмов, хайтековские звуки и самое главное - очень много реверберации и эхо. Сейчас можно встретить очень мало Ambient'а в «чистом» виде. Элементы Ambient присутствуют сейчас почти во всех стилях - от хауса до хип-хопа, так что этот стиль «протек» во все остальные и уходить обратно в забвение, из которого его вытащил Ино, не собирается. Наиболее известными Ambient-музыкантами считаются Pete Namlook, Aphex Twin, Seefeel, The Future Sound Of London, The ORB, Delerium.
Как правило, музыка, в которой отсутствуют - или умело скрыты - характерные для Западной культуры ритмы и мелодические структуры. Часто это произведения, вызывающие "ощущение Востока или Азии". Элементы Ambient сегодня можно встретить в музыке самых разных представителей рока, от Майка Олдфилда и Карлоса Сантаны, до групп готического рока, таких как Dead Can Dance и This Mortal Coil.
Это похоже на усыпляющий газ. Ambient («обволакивающий, обтекающий» ранее прилагательное, а теперь существительное) состоит из многослойных звуков, коротких отрывков мелодий, умеренных заунывных аккордов, протяжных шумов, создающих ощущение пространства в первую очередь и лишь за тем запоминающуюся мелодию (или вообще никакой). Ударные в Ambient звучат угрожающе или распевно, почти как в арабских мелодиях. Короче, всё звучит подобно подлинным частям из Dark Side Of The Moon, только с более современными звуковыми эффектами. Dubby moods, harmonic melody fields embedded in a warm and bright electronic landscape. There’s only a few words to describe it: "The calm before the storm”. The track „Hop" takes us on a journey to wide yellow oker cornfields where the melodies are floating around like the wind. Sometimes ruff, but always as deep as it gets, maybe like a slow motion ride on a dusty desert highway, that’s the mood of „Pianophil". And finally he lets the journey end like in the cover at the atlantic ocean coast of france. Leaving us behind with a feeling of cosy happiness, rather than what the technical name of the track „Diaprojektion" suggests. „Die Ruhe vor dem Strom" is the third release of „Taschenrechnermusikant" on modularfield. Feel free to check out the other EP´s called „Von Herzen" and „Gurkenglas". You can find them in our DCC Back catalogue on our web side. About Fescal:
Fescal is an artist who was born in Co.Durham, England, but now he lives and works in South Korea.
Fescal was conceived [as in 'concept'] in a hotel lobby on Dec 6th 2009, at approximately 9 am. The Hotel Hilton acted as the trigger for a quick rЁєverie on the state of electronic music at the beginning of the 21st Century. Through a series of unplanned events and actions, coincidences and convergences, Fescal became the focus for a 'nice' perception of contemporary culture, dedicated to developing and sharing a critical eye within a culture that is quickly becoming synonymous with 'pure entertainment'.Although not secretive, Fescal remains anonymous - It means to walk the tightrope between the complexity of the issues addressed and an Ё№ber-conformist approach to cultural dissimilarity - placing itself in the middle of the syndromes it analyses and critiques. So, for the time being and for all we know, one of these days it might surface as a reality show...

Knowingly realized with poor half technicians, with the full conscience to dirty the vision, with material picked up from the road, the internet and archives, Lethal Industry lives and represents a tarred but yet casual beatification. Hollow lived, outdate and undernourished, to recreate for not producing convenience in the vision while the fresh bitumen of the tonality penetrates in the garments of the unknown and foreign.

Source's preview "Tape Feedback Tracks" is part of a series of music made using feedback samples produced on a Marantz cassette deck. The samples were achieved by turning up the mic and speaker then moving a hand over the mic to manipulate the sound. The samples were pitched down then used to make a variety of music exclusively with those samples. "Tape Feedback Tracks" focused on combining experimental electronic music with hip hop beats. Some of the other tracks can be heard on "This Wandering Winter" (to be released on Qunabu netlabel) and "Atonement" (Relinquished Records). In the spirit of collaboration, the samples are available in the zip file as Public Domain. |

Webbed Hand’s first release of 2010 is the esoterically-themed experimental works by Materia Confusa. Rich textures and layers of sound convey impressions of the unseen workings of spaces beyond.
"Musica Universalis” is two works of otherworldly Musique Concrete. The title track is based on the concept of Music of the Spheres and is composed primarily of sounds generated by astronomical objects.
The "maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes” of the final track echoes the Lovecraftian mythos of the blind idiot god Azathoth and his mad dance at the center of the
universe.

Colaboración para circlesandlines entre tres grandes figuras norteamericanas del ambient electrónico. Los tres reflexionan sobre el mito del futuro cercano, quizá en referencia a la obra con el mismo titulo de J.G. Ballard.
Se trata de una composición formada por tres pistas sin cortes entre estas y con transiciones muy sutiles y cuidadas; esta pensado para ser escuchado en ese orden y de principio a fin. En la primera podemos disfrutar de siete minutos a cargo de Saffron Slumber , quien suele explorar el timbre de distintos instrumentos acústicos. La pista comienza con majestuosos bordoneos de cuerda que van acelerándose y desgarrándose, creando un caótico ambiente junto a un distorsionado beat, para volver a la calma en los últimos minutos. La segunda parte corre a cargo de Specta Ciera , cinco minutos con sus habituales sonidos espaciales, cristalinos y misteriosos. Y para terminar, la elegancia de Carl Sagan´s Ghost , que sigue mostrándonos la evolución y los nuevos matices de su refinado sonido. Muy recomendable.

Cezary Gapik (also know as CEZAR) was born in Czestochowa, Poland in 1963. He started his musical activity in 1980 as an animator of punk rock bands. Soon enough he discovered new sounds which were brought by the punk rock rebellion. Cabaret Voltaire, Public Image Ltd. or other "new wave” bands had an enormous influence on the perception of music by Cezar. Plunging into the fundaments of musical avant-garde (Karlheinz Stockhausen, Morton Feldman, Luc Ferrari, La Monte Young), the appearance of new creative possibilities (computer) together with the works of artists like Mick Harris (Lull, Scorn), Illusion of Safety, etc. had definitively shaped the musical direction towards which Cezary Gapik follows. His musical creation is based on drones and micro-tonal sound planes interlaced with abstract "images” (field recordings) or computer-processed synthetic sounds (glitch).
Vol. 43 expresses a lot already since this truly is his 43rd release.
